Momme Fitness Challenge

100 Days of Purposeful Movement!

To kick off the New Year I proposed to some of my girlfriends that we create our own movement challenge. The rules are simple:

Pick a physical activity to do, each day, over 100 consecutive days.

The activity must be for at least 30 minutes.

Collect Points and at the end of the 100 days the person with the most points wins!

Point System:

1 point for walking, either outside or on a treadmill.

2 points for a workout. A workout can be done at home, at a gym or in a class.

A workout can include the following activities: Yoga, Spin, Dance, Skating etc. If you prefer working out at home, YouTube has great videos available. If you have a game console, pop in a dance video game. Anything goes!

-2 points if you miss a day.

Elect a person from your group to track each member's points over the 100 days. I created a table using Excel.

Accountability:

Create a private group with those participating in the challenge. This is where you will share your photos of ALL of your workouts or walks. Yes, there will end up being be a few hundred photos however taking a picture keeps you accountable and is great motivation for your friends. There were definitely a few evenings where I thought that I was just too tired to workout but then I would see a photo that one of my girlfriends posted and I got my arse up and put on a YouTube workout video. Also, don't underestimate these videos as they will definitely kick your butt!

Grab yourself a calendar and mark off each day you workout. It will help give you that extra push as you will be able to physically see how much you have already accomplished.

Miss a day:

If you happen to miss a day then you miss a day. Doing 2 workouts in 1 day does not make up for the day you missed. The goal is to achieve purposeful movement for 100 consecutive days.

What if there is a tie?

At the start of the challenge, have your group decide on what the tie breaker will be. Perhaps the person who has lost the most weight wins or the person who has the most consecutive days of earning 2 points etc.

Have fun with it!

Bonus:

To make the challenge interesting, and for a little extra motivation, my friends and I each put in $25 and whoever has the most points at the end of the challenge wins the $$$.

Always be sure to check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially the newly post partum mamas!
